    629000 - Learn Viola - Ages 9 - 12

    629000 - Learn Viola - Ages 9 - 12

What is a viola? A viola is a member of the violin family. For young children, a viola can be the exact same size as a student-sized violin and is played just like a violin- cradled between the shoulder and chin. The difference is in the sound. A viola is tuned a perfect 5th lower than a violin, giving it a slightly deeper yet incredibly beautiful tone. This 6 week class is for beginners with no experience playing the viola. We will start off with basic care and maintenance, learn to read music notation, and progress to playing simple songs from our method book. The goal of the class is to have fun learning a new instrument! For ages 9-12. To ensure that the class continues to move forward with new material each week, there is the expectation that students will practice 3-5 days a week for a minimum of 10- 15 minutes each practice session. Vermont Violins is offering discounted rental violas for the duration of the class. Viola and bow are $30 + $5 for rosin (required). The book we will use is available through Vermont Violins as well. Once registered, please contact Vermont Violins as soon as possible to reserve your viola.

**Students must have a viola prior to the first class. Instruments will not be issued at class.

For any questions related to this class, please visit the instructor’s website: https://learnviolavt.com/lessons-%26-group-classes or email her at learnviolavt@gmail.com

    665010 - Memorial Day Ceremony

    665010 - Memorial Day Ceremony

Please Join us for a special Memorial Day Ceremony at Veteran's Memorial Park as we remember our fallen friends and family.
Since the earliest ceremonies in small American towns following the Civil War, we have gathered on Memorial Day to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. As in those early days of laying wreaths and placing flags, our national day of remembrance is often felt most deeply among the families and communities who have personally lost friends and loved ones.

This national holiday may also be the unofficial start of the summer season, but all Americans must take a moment to remember the sacrifice of our valiant military service members, first responders and their families. Memorial Day is a day of both celebration and grief, accounting for the honor of our heroes and reflecting on their tragic loss.

Rain Location will be at City of South Burlington Offices at 575 Dorset Street.
