600001 - Girls Lacrosse 3rd-8th Grade

The program's emphasis is on basic skill development (throwing, catching, cradling, dodging), teamwork, conditioning, game strategy and having fun. Although we do not know exactly what the season will look like, we are planning to host a team in some capacity. Our teams have traditionally played in a competitive league, traveling for Jamborees on Sundays throughout the season. We will stay in close contact with the league and adapt to the state guidelines for recreational play. The season may be adjusted due to ongoing changing in guidelines.

Our program has asked for participants US Lacrosse number before registration can begin. We have delayed that process at this time. Staff will be in contact wilth participants once that information is needed. This is an additional $30 fee.

Equipment needed: Mask, cleats, stick, mouthguard, and goggles.

600002 - Youth Lacrosse Clinics

Come learn the great sport of lacrosse in a fun, safe, and welcoming environment! Participants can expect to start learning the skills of passing, catching, scooping, and shooting. Guardians are asked to grab a stick and play along with participants as we all adapt to new rules and roles within appropriate guidelines. Participants and guardians are asked to wear a mask while participating in the program.

600003 - Soccer Sparks

Soccer Sparks offers age-appropriate soccer classes for kids in a low pressure, high skill learning environment. The Soccer Sparks approach utilizes fun and games so that children develop a passion for soccer without the stress of competitive play. Taught by USSF Nationally Certified coaches, Soccer Sparks' all-ball training techniques help kids meet their maximum potential while emphasizing fair play and enjoyment of the sport.

Kickin' With Parents: 2-3yrs
Parent and child soccer! By playing fun games, children improve their blossoming balance, coordination, and general motor skills. Aside from learning how to dribble and strike a soccer ball, children and parents also get the opportunity to share those first, unforgettable, goal-scoring adventures together.

Dribble, Kick, Pass: 4-5yrs
This program is designed to spark an early passion for the game in young players. This program will encourage greater retention of foundational soccer skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting in a positive environment. Our curriculum includes fun and energetic games that teach kids about playing within a group.

Youth Soccer Sparks:
Dazzle with your footwork! The program utilizes the all ball” approach to foster skill improvement and build player confidence. Players will learn to solidify such skills as dribbling, passing, trapping, receiving, juggling, and accurate shooting in a supportive team environment.

Come join professional disc golfer and owner of Disc Golf Vermont, Chris Young, in this fun and engage program! Participants can expect to learn the sport of disc golf in this fun and supportive environment. Kids and their guardians will work together and get to play on a professional 9 hole Innova mini course.

600005 - Flag Rugby

Flag Rugby is a continuous movement game using flag belts, that allows players to learn the basics of rugby while being active and having fun with their friends. This is a safe introduction to basic rugby skills such as passing, spatial awareness, timing and agility. Drills and scrimmage play will challenge players physically and mentally. No experience necessary.

Whether you are just learning to whittle or are ready to carve a sailboat in a bottle, Whittling at Wheeler is an excellent opportunity to carve under the guidance of skillful mentors. We will explore the forest, harvest materials and learn to safely use a variety of tools as we set out to make wands, spoons, bows, swords, and wooden creatures.

Can you move sneakily, undetected through the woods? Come learn the ways of the scout in this week of secret missions, hide and seek games, and epic adventures. We’ll make a secret scout camp in the forest and use it as our home base for stealth and camouflage play, honing our deer ears, eagle eyes, and fox walk.

700006 - Fishing Camp

Learn new fishing skills from a professional fishing guide! Uncle Jammer's Guide Service will teach you how to catch fish with lures, bait and flies. Practice your abilities while fishing at both Red Rocks Beach and Shelburne Bay. Participants will also earn a VT Fish and Wildlife "Let's Go Fishing" certificate. All equipment and materials are provided. Participants may bring their own supplies if they wish.

Transportation will not be provided this year. Parents/Guardians are asked to drop off and pick up campers at both Red Rocks Beach and Shelburne Bay. Details will be sent to registered participants.

700007 - Intro to Fly Fishing

Learn the art of fly fishing with professional fishing guide, Mark Wilde. This camp will teach participants the hands-on skills associated with fly fishing. Campers will spend time learning both the stroke and swing of the fly fishing rod and the delicate art of fly tying. Some time will be spent exploring the science of entomology, with direct, hands-on exploration of various bugs and insects in the local area. The final day of camp will be spent at Shelburne Bay, where participants will be able to utilize their learned skills.

Transportation will not be provided and parents/guardians are asked to both pickup and drop off at location. Details will be sent to registered participants before the start of the camp.

700008 - Flag Football Camp

Join Essex High School head football Coach Drew Gordon for a flag-football camp that will focus on learning to play the game the right way. Participants will learn appropriate footwork, technique, and skills associated with a heads-up approach to football while having the opportunity to punt, pass, kick, run, and catch the football in a skills competition. Ultimately, the goal is that campers have a fun, positive and competitive experience while learning tips and fundamental skills that will keep them safe while playing the great game of football.

700009 - Sports and Fitness Camp

This camp is designed for the lover of sports. Over the course of the week, campers will participate and compete in a variety of sports, including flag-football, soccer, basketball, ultimate frisbee, whiffle ball,and team handball. Participants will also participate in a range of fitness challenges each day that will push them to their limits. All activities will encourage mental toughness, teamwork, sportsmanship and most importantly, fun. Instructor is Drew Gordon, EJHS head football coach and SBHS head boys tennis coach.

Participants must have completed Grades 1st-7th.

700010 - Ultimate Frisbee Camp

Now a varsity sport, Ultimate is an exciting, non-contact team sport, played by thousands the world over. It mixes the best features of sports such as Soccer, Basketball, American Football and Netball into an elegantly simple yet fascinating and demanding game using a flying disc.

Instructor is Drew Gordon, EHS head football coach and SBHS head boys tennis coach.

700013 - Baseball Camp

Join camp Director Ed Hockenbury and a quality staff of coaches for a fun week of baseball at Veterans Memorial Park. The camp features age-appropriate instruction in baseball fundamentals, and all campers will play a game every day. Players will learn about fielding, pitching, hitting, throwing, baserunning, and rules, from quality instructors in an atmosphere that is safe, fun and engaging. Veterans Memorial Park, with multiple fields and batting cages, is the perfect location for a camp that children will enjoy, and where they will improve their skills. We hope to see you this summer!

700014 - Rocketry Camp

Build, test, and launch solid propellant rockets that safely return by parachute. Learn the aerodynamics of rocket flight and create a six foot tall experimental rocket with your team. Campers will leave class with a rocket that they have launched and can launch again. This is a high flying camp! Materials included.

700015 - Disc Golf Camp

Come join professional disc golfer and owner of Disc Golf Vermont, Chris Young, and enjoy the fast growing sport of Disc Golf! Participants will learn the rules, skills, and strategy of disc golf as they play games daily. Disc Golf Vermont will bring movable nets each day and keep the mobile course different each day.
