663006 - Intro to Nosework - The Search Begins Here! - Spring

663006 - Intro to Nosework - The Search Begins Here! - Spring

Nosework is a fun, new sport where dogs search for scented items, indoors and out, and compete for the fastest time. Any dog can play, including elderly and handicapped dogs, and even those who are somewhat reactive to people or other dogs! In this 6 week class we will cover the basics of searching, odor movement, and leash handling. Further classes increase scent challenges and prepare for competition if desired. Dogs attend all 6 weeks. For a demo see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkXtAup14Sg .
Dogs need to be on a flat collar or harness, with a 6-10í regular leash. You will need to bring lots of yummy treat rewards. Because only one dog searches at a time, dogs need to be able to stay safely in your vehicle or in a crate in an adjoining room between searches. We CAN accommodate moderately-reactive dogs. All vaccination records need to be shown the first week of class.

Ages 8 and up are welcome to attend but must be accompanied by an adult if under the age of 14.

663007 - Nosework Odor 1 - The Search Continues! Spring

For dogs who have taken an Introduction to Nosework/Scentwork class (here or elsewhere) and searched for food or have begun searching for odor. In this class dogs learn to find hidden scented items instead of food, and dogs and their people learn how to communicate more closely. This is the first step for those wanting to compete, and where the fun really begins!

FIRST CLASS IS FOR HUMANS ONLY. Participants will need to purchase an odor kit for $20 from Holly at the first class.

Because only one dog searches at a time, dogs need to be able to stay safely in your vehicle, or in a crate in an adjoining room, between searches. We CAN accommodate mildly-reactive dogs. All vaccination records need to be shown the first week of class.

Ages 8 and up are welcome to attend but must be accompanied by an adult if under the age of 14.

    665010 - Memorial Day Ceremony

    665010 - Memorial Day Ceremony

Please Join us for a special Memorial Day Ceremony at Veteran's Memorial Park as we remember our fallen friends and family.
Since the earliest ceremonies in small American towns following the Civil War, we have gathered on Memorial Day to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. As in those early days of laying wreaths and placing flags, our national day of remembrance is often felt most deeply among the families and communities who have personally lost friends and loved ones.

This national holiday may also be the unofficial start of the summer season, but all Americans must take a moment to remember the sacrifice of our valiant military service members, first responders and their families. Memorial Day is a day of both celebration and grief, accounting for the honor of our heroes and reflecting on their tragic loss.

Rain Location will be at City of South Burlington Offices at 575 Dorset Street.
